Engineering has a long standing history of being a male dominated profession, but International Women in Engineering day aims to raise the profile of women in the profession. Organised by the Women’s Engineering Society, the theme in 2021 is engineering heroes and at Blackrow we are proud to have some fantastic female engineers amongst our team.

South Humber Bank Killingholme Marshes Drainage Scheme

Following a comprehensive tender process, Blackrow is pleased to confirm that they have been selected by Able UK as their preferred supplier to provide the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) works as part of the recently announced Killingholme Marshes Drainage Scheme in North Lincolnshire.

As part of our commitment to the environment and local community, Blackrow is involved in several environmental projects, including Hammy the Haddock and our new Globe recycling installation in Cleethorpes.

In March we announced our involvement in a new steel sculpture we were designing and manufacturing that would encourage people to recycle their single-use plastic. 

We are pleased to unveil, on Thursday 20th May 2021, the latest community, environmental project, a stainless steel globe that illustrates the importance Cleethorpes has as a feeding stop-off point in global migration.

There was a good degree of suspicion at Blackrow Engineering when an unsolicited email purporting to be from HM Treasury was received regarding a potential Treasury Minister visit. Having checked that no payment or bank details were requested CEO Neil Ellis advised that this should be followed up as it appeared to be genuine. There then followed a whirlwind chain of events over the next 6 days culminating in a visit to Blackrow by Rishi Sunak Chancellor of the Exch
