Blackrow Apprentice Represents Region at 10 Downing Street Reception

Blackrow is proud to announce that welding apprentice Harry Hooton was invited to a special National Apprenticeship Week reception at 10 Downing Street on Monday 9th February 2026.
Harry attended the event alongside three other apprentices from CATCH after fellow apprentice Emily Hasthorpe wrote to the Prime Minister highlighting the importance of high‑quality, employer‑led apprenticeships in supporting the UK’s clean energy ambitions.
This invitation marks another major milestone in Harry’s apprenticeship journey. At the end of last year, he represented the UK at WorldSkills in Austria, competing against the best young welders from around the world,  a remarkable achievement that reflects his talent, dedication and the strength of the training delivered through CATCH.
Luke O’Brien, Structuring and Piping Director at Blackrow said.
“Harry continues to impress everyone at Blackrow. His invitation to Downing Street and his success at WorldSkills demonstrate not only his exceptional ability, but also the value of investing in apprenticeships. We are incredibly proud of the commitment he shows every day and the way he represents both Blackrow and the wider Humber region.”
As a long‑standing supporter of apprenticeships, Blackrow is delighted to see Harry’s achievements recognised nationally. His success showcases the vital role apprentices play in strengthening industry and building the skilled workforce needed for the future.
Harry is an outstanding ambassador for Blackrow, CATCH and the next generation of engineering talent.
