In December 2021, our colleague Sue Nidd is celebrating 30 years at Blackrow. The team were proud to present her with her long service award, along with a bouquet of flowers, and thank her for her work.

Sue started her career at Lady Marion Marketing, where she was able to undertake day release to Grimsby College to study her YTS in Office Skills. Her studies included computing, word processing, and banking and wages. In addition, sue successfully gained her City and Guilds in Business Studies. From there, she then went to work at the VAT Office in Customs and Excise.

On the 16th December 1991, Sue joined Blackrow as a General Office Clerk. Based at our original premises on Armstrong Street before the relocation, the headcount was approximately 30 employees at the time. At Armstrong Street, Sue worked closely with Lynn, who was responsible for the accounts and payroll at the time. As her role progressed, she gradually took on more responsibility by helping with the payroll processing before becoming a Payroll Administrator.

Today, Sue is responsible for processing the weekly and monthly payrolls of over 200 employees at Blackrow.

Katie Broughton, HR Manager, commented, "Over the years, Sue has seen many faces come and go. She has the ability to remember and recall names, numbers, and pay rates better than a lot of databases which undoubtedly has helped her in her role."
