South Humber Bank Killingholme Marshes Drainage Scheme

Following a comprehensive tender process, Blackrow is pleased to confirm that they have been selected by Able UK as their preferred supplier to provide the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) works as part of the recently announced Killingholme Marshes Drainage Scheme in North Lincolnshire.

The scheme has been given the go-ahead due to funding from the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership as part of the Government’s Getting Building Fund. The provision of the Pumping Station is the enabling project which will provide a new drainage infrastructure for the area and allow for the development of the Able Marine Energy Park, which is set to become a strategically important world-leading facility on the South Humber Bank, servicing the needs of the offshore renewable energy sector and putting the Humber at the heart of this dynamic sector. The scheme will also benefit a number of surrounding organisations with the new drainage infrastructure in the surrounding area.

The award of the Pumping Station project brings together the two companies who share similar aims, objectives, goals and vision with a determination to develop a long-standing business relationship.

Blackrow is a local engineering company based in Grimsby employing local labour and is proud to support the local region and community. The award of the project is seen as being significantly important not just in the development of the relationship between Blackrow and Able UK but also in allowing the business to develop, expand and further diversify into new business sectors, assisted in part by the designation of the Humber region as one of eight locations across England to receive Freeport status.

Commented John Clay, ABLE Construction Manager: “It is great that we are in a position to be able to support local businesses, in fact, and all other things being equal, this is an important element of our strategy. It is also pleasing to note that other projects linked to this scheme have been awarded locally.

Blackrow: Paul Atkinson of Blackrow "As a business Blackrow are very much looking forward to working with the team at Able and the North East Lindsey Drainage Board who will be adopting the Pumping Station, to deliver a successful project outcome”.
