During the initial specification stage we provide
a draft panel layout in AutoCAD format which
we submit to our client. From this we discuss
specification details such as component
brands used, panel size, door layout and
discuss any future expansion requirements.
Upon receipt of order we submit a full set
of prelim drawings to our clients for
approval, after which panel assembly
commences.
After project completion a full set of
as-built drawings is provided in hard-copy
and optionally electronic formats.
As a further service to our clients we
provide a secure members area which
will enable them to download their
drawings at any time. We also provide
downloads and links to associated OEM
documentation. This service is useful
as hard copies of drawings end up
missing so this offers clients 24 hour
access to their drawings long after
project completion.

 Control Panel Design
Blackrow designs all control panels using industry-standard software
regardless of panel size.
An initial scaled panel layout is designed which provides us with an accurate panel size and bill-of-materials which is discussed with the client. This ensures the panel is designed to client specification including the use of standard branded components.
During the design stage a full set of prelim drawings is submitted to the client for approval. These drawings along with associated OEM installation and user documentation can be accessed any time from our secure members page.
Blackrow can design simple or complex layouts to suite all requirements utilising automation components including PLCs, Intelligent Relays, Variable-Speed Drives and Motion Control equipment. We can integrate into larger systems using industrial networks such as DeviceNet, Profibus, CAN, and Ethernet. We can also design hard-wired logic circuits for simpler applications.
The final as-built drawings supplied are laid out clearly and logically into sections including power distribution, safety circuits, PLC I/O and machine interlocking. We provide full cross-referencing diagrams and cable schedules.
Additionally if our software services are used we can supply a full technical manual with flow-diagrams, user manuals and troubleshooting documentation along with PLC ladder diagrams and source-code print-outs.
Control Panel Door Layouts
Generally for straightforward applications, our panels are fitted with a range of standard Ø22mm push-buttons, indicators and potentiometers to suit the application. However with the increasing use of Automation we often fit HMI panels which offer a greater degree of flexibility and control.
We supply various text, graphic and touch panels from all major manufacturers but often we standardise on UniOp panels as these connect to virtually any PLC or drive on the market.
For more sophisticated applications we can fit industrial touch-screen PCs for SCADA and custom data collection applications.
Panel Assebly
After submission of our prelim drawings for approval to our clients we begin panel assembly.
Our years of experience in electrical contracting allows us to anticipate change and build panels with contingency in mind.
We always source top quality branded components and build our panels to customer specification. If no specification is available we always ensure components are selected from reputable nationwide suppliers.
Panel Components
The choice of components we use is very important to our clients. Firstly we need to ensure the use of reputable brands which offer long service life and high availability. Second we need to ensure we conform to client’s specification.
In most cases the client offers a component specification but sometimes the choice is left to our discretion.
