Project Scope

EnSol Group chose Blackrow to manage the installation and start-up of a multi-million pound project to construct one of the largest volume bakeries in the world. The bakery would be producing in excess of 1.5 million loaves per day, but it was not just the size and technical complexity of the operation that required a partner with the experience and skill set, it was also the fact that the bakery was to be based in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Our experience within the food sector, and with working on projects around the world, meant that we had an understanding of the complexities associated with a project of this size and technology, and also in a challenging environment.

Every tool, supply and part had to be planned and prepared for. We sent across two shipping containers. One was used as a shop, including electrical distribution for the remote welders, and the other was a parts store. Our organised approach ensured that the project was well run and efficient.

At the peak of the project we had over 45 people on-site, with our experienced bakery engineers monitoring work and assuring quality.

The on-site team were supported fully by our central office back in the UK; maintaining staffing levels, shipping expedition and responding to special requests such as fabrications and special parts. At all times we ensured that channels of communication with our client remained open, timely and frank.
